Podiatrists are experts
in foot, ankle and lower limb care. There are many reasons to see a podiatrist.
Some of the typical foot conditions that we see include general nail care, footpain, bunions, ingrown toenails, sports injuries, tinea, corns and calluses.
Some of the common
reasons why someone might see a podiatrist are:
- General foot care
- Diabetes, peripheral vascular disease or neuropathy
- Soft tissue and muscular injuries
- Foot or lower limb deformity
- Falls
- Arthritis
- Circulatory diseases
Biomechanical Assessment
Your foot position and structure effects not only the local tissues, but may influence the way that your knees, hips and back function.
During a biomechanical assessment, your podiatrist will observe the way that you walk or run, and assess your muscle strength and joint mobility. We will provide you with an individual management plan to help you achieve your goals.
Ingrown Toe Nails & Nail Surgery
Ingrown toenails occur when the nail irritates the surrounding tissue. They can cause pain, redness, swelling and may lead to infection.
Most ingrown toenails can be managed conservatively with appropriate cutting techniques and by addressing the causative factors. However, in some cases, nail surgery may be recommended which is completed in our Nowra podiatry clinic.
