Conditions We Treat
The foot, ankle and lower-leg conditions we see most often at the clinic.
Foot pain rarely stays in one place, it shows up in your walks, your work, your weekend plans. Below are the conditions we see most often. If yours isn’t on the list, phone the clinic on 4421 6030 and we’ll let you know honestly whether we’re the right fit before you book.
Plantar Fasciitis
Sharp heel pain that’s worst with the first steps in the morning. We assess the foot mechanics driving it and build a plan that combines load management, stretching and orthotic therapy to aid settling the symptoms.
In-toeing
When a child walks with their feet turned in. Most cases self-resolve, but a paediatric assessment can identify which type you’re dealing with and whether early intervention will make a difference.
Bunions
A bony prominence at the base of the big toe with the joint pain that comes with it.
Heel Pain
Plantar fasciitis is the usual suspect, but heel pain can also come from the fat pad, the Achilles insertion, the heel bone or nearby nerves. A thorough assessment is the difference between treating the cause and chasing symptoms.
Cracked Heels & Fissures
Painful heel cracks are more than a cosmetic concern, deep fissures can bleed, become infected and limit walking. We debride professionally, treat any underlying drivers, and aim to keep them away with a proper home-care routine.
Achilles Pain
Morning stiffness, pain when starting up, tenderness along the tendon. We separate mid-portion Achilles pain from insertional Achilles pain because they need different rehab, and we walk you through the loading program that is evidenced based.
Arch Pain
Whether your arches are flat or high, persistent arch pain usually has a mechanical answer. We work out which structure is overloaded and why, then put together a plan that addresses the cause rather than just easing the symptoms.
Foot Wounds & Ulcers
Diabetic ulcers, pressure wounds and chronic non-healing wounds need timely, expert treatment. Brett brings the offloading and wound-care approach he used at Wollongong and Shoalhaven hospitals to private patients in Nowra, wound care, offloading and long-term prevention.
Metatarsal Pain & Bruising
Pain across the ball of the foot, metatarsalgia, capsulitis, stress reactions, neuromas, fat pad thinning. Common in walkers, runners and people on hard surfaces all day. We sort out which structure is involved and treat accordingly.
Shin Splints
Pain along the inner border of the shin in runners, walkers and anyone ramping up activity quickly. We identify the load and the mechanics that are driving it.
Morton’s Neuroma
Burning or electric pain in the ball of the foot, often described as walking on a pebble. A common cause of forefoot pain that responds well to footwear changes, padding and orthotic offloading when caught early.
Sinus Tarsi Syndrome
Persistent pain on the outside of the ankle that won’t settle. Often missed or simply labelled “ankle pain”.
